Nationally
known artist J. Wayne Bystrom excels in the medium of oils as evidenced
by a series of successful exhibitions in prominent art galleries located
in Philadelphia, New York, Washington, D.C. and Wilmington. He has
exhibited in such eminent art institutions as the National Academy of
Design, the Philadelphia Art Alliance, the Philadelphia Art Museum
Gallery, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the INA Maritime
Museum.
Bystrom's
original oil paintings have steadily increased in value, and he has
numerous sold-out limited edition prints. Throughout his career, he has
contributed a great deal of time and artwork for worthwhile causes to
benefit Philadelphia's homeless, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and
many community fundraisers.
The artist
is a graduate of the prestigious Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts where
he was honored as one of their most award-winning students. His
landscapes and portrait work claimed top honors. He also received their
highest award of the William Emlem Cresson Memorial Traveling
Scholarship which enabled him to study the art in Europe for three
months.
Bystrom's
realistic artwork has been chosen for covers of local, national and
international magazines. He is renowned for his ability to paint very
detailed work and for his great understanding of color and design. His
country landscapes, historical buildings, wildlife and florals have
broad appeal. His "lighthouse series" has strengthened his
reputation throughout the country.
In
addition to being represented in many private collections, Bystrom's
paintings can be found in an increasing number of influential
corporations, including AT&T, IBM, Four Seasons Hotel, Rittenhouse
Hotel, Vanguard, Smith-Kline, MBNA, Wyeth-Ayerst Research, PNC Bank,
INA, and the Blue Bell Restaurant.
